A Nocturnal Play of the Macedonian Sun in the Library of Alexandria
Oil on canvas, 100 × 150 cm, 2022
This work approaches the relationship between knowledge, memory, and intuition through a symbolic architectural site. The Library of Alexandria is conceived not merely as a historical structure, but as a mental space in which transmission, accumulation, and loss coexist. The owl—associated across cultures with knowledge and intuition—replaces the human face, shifting representation away from individual identity toward a shared symbolic register.
Night and moonlight point to the partial, indirect, and intuitive nature of knowledge rather than to absolute clarity. The relationship between figure and space opens a zone of mental circulation rather than a linear visual narrative. In this way, the work suggests that knowledge is shaped not only through preservation, but also through absence, silence, and gaps within cultural memory.
