Artist Biography

Born in 1988, Seha is an Istanbul-born visual artist based in Istanbul. Working across disciplines, her practice brings together photography, digital construction, AI-assisted image production, oil painting, and watercolor. Through these mediums, she investigates transitional spaces between consciousness and the unconscious, drawing on mythology, dream imagery, and the relationship between body and space.

Light occupies a central role in the artist’s work as a carrier of meaning and transformation. In the Invitation of Light series, space is approached as a site of passage between historical layers; corridors, doors, and interior spaces become the setting for a journey through time and collective memory.

In the Aphrodite series, Seha examines the contemporary idealization of beauty and the ways in which bodies are reshaped according to these ideals. Aesthetic interventions, surgical transformations, and the continuous reconstruction of the body form a critical field of inquiry through the figure of Aphrodite. The series exposes structures that operate particularly on the female body, transforming beauty into a form of capital and a regulated industry. Aphrodite is no longer a mythological icon, but becomes a representation of a system in which beauty is standardized, commodified, and controlled.

The Dreams series centers on the fragmented and non-linear nature of the unconscious. Here, time and space dissolve, and images unfold as layered scenes shaped by the interaction between personal memory and collective associations.

Within Seha’s practice, digital and physical forms of production are considered together. By bringing different tools and techniques into a unified visual language, the artist invites the viewer into an intuitive and open-ended experience rather than imposing a singular interpretation.

Seha continues her artistic practice in Istanbul.
